Popping down the local...

One of the best things about living so close to the coast (we're about 10-15 minutes drive) is being able to pop down after work. As the temperatures soared to 30 degrees, we stayed in the house / office / school but once everyone was home, it was straight down to our local - Pevensey Bay.
(BTW, the car park is now free after 7pm each day)

Bexhill, blessed with sunshine

We celebrated a birthday on the beach this year, and were truly blessed with surprisingly amazing weather! Bexhill did us proud once more...

The kids decided to start a new shell collection, whilst they waited for the rock pools...

Bexhill town, gleaming proudly in the incredibly hot sunshine!

A high low tide, still low enough to reveal miles of sand and rock pools!

For a moment, it was spring!

The sun was out, so the girls went in..!

We made it over to Eastbourne during the Easter school holidays and the big kids are still small enough to want to get their feet wet so onto the beach we went. Dogs are only welcome till May 1st (not sure how far along the beach this rule goes) so Bruce went bounding down but stopped short at getting his paws wet! Sadly we couldn't inspect the new pier as that is a dog free zone but it looked just like any other pier from the beach!

Mother's Day Pevensey Style!

The perfect Mother's Day stroll along Pevensey Beach... the views were so clear, it was easy to see to the Marina edge and all the way out to Hastings!

Groaning Groynes

If you park at Norman's Bay (for free!) you can wander along the beach towards Bexhill or Pevensey. This time, we opted for a stroll towards Pevensey which means passing all these beautiful old groynes. I often wonder what the beach must have looked like when these were first installed; no doubt providing shelter from the southerly winds and the perfect place for a picnic blanket in summer!

Winter sunshine bringing out the beauty of the beach

It may be half term, but the beach is still empty; well it is February and 9am!
Parked at Norman's Beach by the beach huts, and walked towards Bexhill... as the tide revealed the sand and rock pools the dog ran and ran and ran!

Love the ruins of the groynes
